Applications for student school fees support
Bursaries
These are awarded to young people with exceptional talent, specific educational need or those facing sudden and unforeseen financial crisis or bereavement. These awards are usually made on first entry to secondary education at age 11 or 13. Applications can be made at any point, but need to be in time for the following academic year and should be received by January.
Our funds allow us to provide a limited number of such awards every year, but only in partnership with Independent Schools. Applicants are usually expected to show they’ve secured an award for at least half the fees from the school or educational body.
Managing expectations:
- Our usual award is around £3,000, although we can occasionally decide, in exceptional circumstances, to award a maximum of £5,100. Applications are not considered where the annual family income exceeds £75,000 and we do ask for evidence.
- We expect to see considered plans in place for how the family is proposing to make up the financial shortfall.
- Our timeline for application is the end of January. The selection process will take place in February and interviews are usually held in March. At the interview we’ll ask you about yourself, expect you to have some understanding of the work of the Trust and what it will mean to be a Ewelme Scholar.
- Governors will review school reports to monitor individual progress and ensure the support they’re providing is having an impact.
- We do need to be informed of any substantial change in the household financial circumstances or if you move home
We would like to help you, but we can’t if:
- You don’t live in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or in the vicinity of Ramridge
- Need help with boarding fees
- You don’t have an Independent school willing to partner with fees
- Our maximum award leaves too large a shortfall
- You can’t get a supporting testimonial from your current school Head
